A hot shoe, allows an
external flash or other device to be connected to a camera. When
an external flash is inserted into the the hot shoe, it's electrical
contacts touch the contacts on the foot of the flash. The Hot Shoe
(above) is a 2 contact shoe as apposed to a TTL or ETTL connector
which may contain as much as 6 contacts to relay information from
camera to flash. This 2 contact Hot Shoe will work on cameras with
TTL contacts but in the manuel mode. When the
shutter-release button is pressed, the flash goes off in sync
with the shutter.
